I also recommend using an addon that shows you all the mining node spawn points on your map and minimap. For me, I use GatherMate and GatherMate_Data.

GatherMate is the primary addon that collects and displays all the nodes on the map. GatherMate_Data contains all the data points for every node in the game extracted from Wowhead.com and updated every week.

I also use an excellent companion addon, Routes, that would plot the shortest route to every node on the map; check out the screen shots of that addon page.
